Forgetful

Today, I'm getting crazy looking for my cellphone. I know I put it in some place safe but just can't remember where? I tried calling it but I did not hear it ring :(

I have a terrible memory nowadays? I've noticed that I've been very forgetful lately. Could be a sign of getting old. I forget about almost everything. Once, I was looking for our foster baby's stroller for days and we concluded that maybe somebody took the stroller by mistake in the church because we had bunch of babies there. But after many days, I suddenly remembered that when  I picked up my other foster at school, that was when hubby is out of town, I left the stroller in the sidewalk while I'm putting the baby back in his car seat!...good thing, it's not the baby ..lol. Then, there were times I bumped to somebody I know but can't remember their names.

Most people remember either names or faces. Some really sharp cookies remember both. Most of the time I remember neither. It's so embarrassing. I've always wished that I had a photographic memory, like others do. I'm really bad with names. My brain is such an interesting piece of contradictory gray matter. It struggles to find the right name file for most face files.

Sometimes I experienced selective remembering.

I don't want  to be selective, about remembering the glorious things God has done.

Deuteronomy 4:9 says, "Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them."

These instructions from Moses to the people are instructions for us, too. Forgetting was easy for them and, sadly, it's still easy today. The Message puts verse 9 this way: "Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves." Remembering the things He has done has a purifying effect on our lives. We need to "stay alert" and to "keep close watch" over the things in our lives that would distract us from what He wants us to do.

Temporary things will come and go, but verse 23 says that we have to "Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord." I want to be careful to always remember the Name of my awesome God and the things that He'd done for me, even if I can't remember the name of my first cousin.

Any suggestions about forgetfulness? By the way, I found my cellphone on top of one of the book in the bookshelf and it's in vibrate :)

Hahaha! I can't believe you forgot the stroller! Did you ever find it again??

I forget things all the time too. Usually this is what works for me, I pray and ask God to help me find something, and suddenly I will think to look in a spot that I never thought of (or maybe I already looked there) and suddenly I find it! It amazes me every time!

When that doesn't work, I tell my kids, "whoever finds this thing, I'll give them $2 or $5" and they usually (Bethany) find it in about 3 minutes lol

I never find the stroller, somebody took it. But I'm sure I left the stroller there lol.

I like the idea of giving money to whoever finds it lol. I'm gonna try that.
